According to TIMES OF INDIA, “seven out of ten women are sexually harassed.” It is the major problem that our country is facing now. An overwhelming majority of women (90%) who experience sexual harassment do not register a police complaint. Sexual harassment could take place anywhere, at any time, by anyone and in any form. It could happen at public places, school, educational institutes, workplace, even at home. Sexual harassment can be verbal (comments about your body, spreading sexual rumors, sexual remarks or accusations, dirty jokes or stories), physical (grabbing, rubbing, flashing or mooning, touching, pinching in a sexual way, sexual assault) or visual (display of naked pictures or sex-related objects, obscene gestures). It indicates that it is not safe for girls to move out of their houses. Even age is not a concern. Either a little school going girl or a middle aged lady all are same in the eyes of harassers. Harassers are just like hungry beasts who just want a prey to satisfy their hunger. I think you all know about the Delhi rape case. This indicates that there is no protection for girls at our capital. Then what about other states?? please think of it. it’s a shame to our nation
CAUSES OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT:
- Sometimes, the women is so traumatized by the harassment that she suffers serious emotional and physical consequences—and very often, becomes unable to perform her job properly.
- Women suffer from some debilitating stress reaction, including anxiety, depression, headaches, sleep disorders, weight loss or gain, nausea, lowered self-esteem and sexual dysfunction.
- Sexual harassment has a cumulative, demoralizing effect that discourages women from asserting themselves within the workplace, while among men it reinforces stereotypes of women employees as sex objects.
- if you know someone who is being harassed, give her your support. Encourage the recipient to talk about it and to take immediate action to stop it.
- if you actually see or hear an incident of sexual harassment or are subjected to an offensive environment, you can also take the appropriate steps to resolve the harassment or co-file with the complainant.
- when a recipient files a complaint, if possible, support him or her throughout the complaint process.
The most effective weapon against sexual harassment is prevention.
- Promptly investigate and deal with all complaints of harassment.
- Appropriately discipline people who harass women.
- Provide protection and support for the women who feel they are being harassed.
- Take action to eliminate discriminatory jokes, posters, e-mails and photos at the work site.

Now-a –days women are equally engaged in all fields similar to men. They have equal opportunities with men. That means they are equal to men but why these harassment on women . while you are commenting on other women remind your sister, mother, wife, daughter .
